Our esteemed federal administration is evidently considering a way to support working families and increase the American birth rate: a $5,000 “baby bonus” for new parents. As the parent of three little ones, I would have loved $5,000 when each was born! The mental comfort of having some extra money on hand in a time of such change and upheaval would have certainly been welcome.

Confounded by Gen Z in the workplace? Youâre not alone. A recent report based on a survey of 1,000 U.S. managers found that more than half cite frustration, and almost as many point to stress, related to managing this newest group of entrants to the workforce. Nearly a third of those surveyed say they ideally would avoid hiring a Gen Z candidate, and 18% have contemplated leaving their own job because managing Gen Z workers has become too challenging.

Today, humans consume an average of 74 gigabytes of information daily—the equivalent of reading the 100,000-word book The Hobbit or watching 25 episodes of Stranger Things in 24 hours, said Jay Shetty, podcaster, author and chief purpose officer of Calm. “Our brain has not caught up with the ability to process that much information—let alone make sense of it,” he said.
