The property was constructed in 1818 by James Burton, a building contractor famed for his collaborations with acclaimed British architect John Nash, who was the mastermind behind Regent's Park. It was designed by James’ son, Decimus, and became the Burton family home. With five floors, the house is said to extend 29,000 square feet (2,694sqm), has 40 bedrooms, grand reception rooms, a ballroom, library, cinema and fitness centre, with a sauna and pool.

On the hunt for a fixer upper, Ian Turkington transformed a Victorian terraced property in Walthamstow with a contemporary extension and sustainable upgrades. The property has something that’s rare to find in London; a very large garden. Everything removed from the garden had to be taken out through the main house, so, it made practical sense for the outside space to be tackled first.

After a decade living in the area, their landlord asked Rhodri and Meinir Jones if they wanted to buy their rental property; a cramped and damp stone-built barn originally converted in the 1960s. South facing and private, set in a walled garden, the couple took on the challenge, going through 30 iterations of the design over the next four years. Huge fans of Scandi design principles, the modest garden space was integral to the scheme.
