Heatwave-level hot weather will be here for a while - and we might even see temperatures pass 40°C this summer, a UK forecaster has warned. A UK heatwave is expected to be officially declared by this weekend, with temperatures reaching over 30°C tomorrow and sticking around until next week, before another burst of hot weather likely at the end of the month. While many will enjoy the chance of sunning themselves, hotter weather, for example heatwaves, are part of a concerning trend.

UFO hunters are excited after spotting a 'mushroom' on the dusty surface of Mars. The image was taken by Nasa's Curiosity rover in 2013, but the freak 'fungi' on the surface of the Red Planet remained unnoticed... until now. Two sisters drowned in pools on Yr Wyddfa mountain, an inquest heard today. Hajra Zahid, 29, and Haleema Zahid, 25, travelled to North Wales with friends from university on June 11. They were pulled from pools on the Watkin Path, which leds to the summit of the mountain, which was renamed from Snowdon in 2022. Pools along the path, which include waterfalls and rocky areas, are popular spots for wild swimming, with posts on social media regularly showing them to be scenic and a 'paradise'.
