Tracy Demeyer was diagnosed with ALS several years ago, but the disease took a turn for the worse this year. Her son, Brian Demeyer, said his mom won’t be here much longer. “We are coming into about the last couple of weeks of her life here,” he said. Her family wanted to make this Christmas extra special for her.

    RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT)—VCU Safety Ambassadors will now ride along on GRTC Pulse and ‘5’ buses in Richmond. The ambassadors are non-armed and non-sworn civilians or students helping VCU Police. Safety Ambassadors have been around for a few years, but having them ride along city buses is new. “Non-sworn, unarmed individuals on the bus that are just there to make sure there’s a presence,” GRTC spokesperson Henry Bendon said.

Chesterfield and Hanover students’ start days stagger between Monday and Tuesday. Only 6th and 9th grade Chesterfield students start Monday, while the other middle and high school grades start on Tuesday. According to the division, it’s to allow a ‘successful transition of students moving from one school level to another.
