Introduction Psoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated disease that involves the skin, the integumentary system, and occasionally, the joints. It is characterized by keratinocyte hyperproliferation as a response to immune system activation. Several studies have characterized genetic, environmental, and epigenetic factors in the development of psoriasis.
