Ron DeSantis removed from office in what opponents say were political moves won back their old job from voters. Nick Brown has been elected attorney general in Washington, making history as the first Black American to serve in the executive office. Brown easily bested his Republican opponent, Pete Serrano. Brown ran his campaign on tackling issues like gun violence, substance abuse and crime by addressing their root causes, including expanding access to living-wage jobs, housing, education, and mental health support. The attorney general role will be Brown’s first job in elected office.

ATLANTA (AP) — Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, the Georgia prosecutor who brought charges against former President Donald Trump over efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, has won her bid for reelection. Willis, a Democrat, defeated Republican challenger Courtney Kramer, who had interned in the White House counsel’s office during the Trump presidency and is active in GOP organizations.
