    Although I came of age at a moment when politicians on both sides of the aisle were amenable to hearing each other’s ideas, we’re now at a juncture where each side seems more or less unpersuadable, unbudgeable, at least on the big stuff. The same goes for a substantial wedge of the public. We’re all rooted in our own media ecosystems, standing on different epistemological substrates, working with different understandings of what we think—know—is true. The 2020 election was stolen; it wasn’t stolen.

    The BBC will dedicate an entire day of coverage to the late TV health guru and Mail columnist Dr Michael Mosley. Programmes scheduled to run across BBC One, Radio 2, Radio 4 and Radio 6 Music on July 12 will honour the broadcaster following his death on the Greek island of Symi at the age of 67 last month.

    The first time I met Suleika Jaouad, I fell in love with her a little. This, I would soon learn, is a fairly common reaction to Suleika: Everyone who meets her falls in love with her a little. It was 2015, and Suleika was just 26 years old—buoyant, finally off maintenance chemo, and radiant on account of it, her thick brown hair arranged in a boop-a-doop pixie cut. We were attending the same conference, and her boyfriend, a young New Orleans musician named Jon Batiste, was there too.

Loretta Swit, damn. And this, from her obit re her role on M*A*S*H…! “It was the greatest time in my career,” she told the The Guardian. Her ambition throughout the series was to be “the best damned nurse in Korea, and that motivated everything I did, even when it came to sex.”

Just made an appt with a hyper-specialized doc whose next availability is … March 26, 2029. Receptionist said I had to make one so that I was eligible for cancellations Then he asked if I wanted 9.30 or 2 pm I was like, Surprise me. But now I’m realizing I have therapy at 9.30
