A senior is suffering from life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle Saturday.
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is investigating the collision that took place around 6:15 p.m., Jan. 25 at Pleasant Valley and Silver Star roads.
Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest the pedestrian was crossing Silver Star Road in the crosswalk when they were struck by a pickup truck making a left hand turn from Pleasant Valley Road onto Silver Star.

The Kelowna campus open house goes Thursday, Jan. 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Dozens of people forced from their apartment following a fire Friday are now left to fend for themselves.
A suspicious blaze broke out early Jan. 3 at the multi-level complex in the 3600 block of 30th Avenue.
The fire, which RCMP are investigating, started with a car parked next to the building, spread to a second vehicle and moved into the building.
Residents were forced out of their homes with little more than the shirts on their backs while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Brains have been buzzing at BX to build businesses.
The Vernon elementary school's Grade 5 to 7 students have been learning about creating products, research, marketing, budgets, pricing and the likes of entrepreneurship.
The results will be in full display at the first Young Entrepreneur Fair Friday, Dec. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Silver Star Road school.

A vehicle crash knocked out service to Vernon's online concert and events operations this week.
The Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre (VDPAC)’s Ticket Seller box office is now back online after the Nov. 19 crash.
"Internet service was interrupted early-Tuesday morning when it appears a large vehicle travelling on 39th Avenue contacted and severed the over-hanging fibre optic cabling at the power pole located at the north end of the Performing Arts Centre," said Jim Harding.

Several groups are getting grants from Coldstream next year, while the district is using one of its own grants to fix up the beloved Kal Beach Pier.
Council approved the additional funding of up to $34,000 for the installation of additional steel pipes for the pier. The funding will come from the Canada Community Building Fund grant.
