A Manatee County woman, who swore she would never fall for a scam, recently found herself caught in one. Too embarrassed to use her full name, Marilyn is sharing her story in hopes of preventing others from falling victim to similar schemes. “I lost $2,400,” she said.

BRADENTON, Fla. — Lisa Ramirez was looking for someone to fix her electrical panel, so she googled "Bradenton electricians" and quickly found a listing for Bradenton Electrical Repair. “I did everything over email originally,” Ramirez said. Emails show that the company offered a membership agreement for $149. “Once you paid membership, they’d do a lot of servicing for free,” she explained. LAND O' LAKES, Fla. — “This was supposed to be a dream pool. Now it’s just a mess,” Chris Tontini told 10 Investigates' Jennifer Titus back in May of 2024. “It was supposed to have a been over there with an umbrella.” Tontini was left high and dry by his pool contractor after paying him more than $60,000. Chris had to shell out big bucks to pay another contractor to fix and complete his backyard oasis. “It had to be another $55,000,” Tontini said.

AVENTURA, Fla. — Mayo Clinic, one of the nation’s most prestigious medical centers, is being sued for allegedly failing to properly inform a heart transplant patient of risks including critical details about the donated organ. Mayo has denied the allegations. Noah Leopold’s family is suing the clinic in Rochester, Minn. for medical negligence, negligent nondisclosure and medical battery.
