Netflix describes her as “the greatest Everest climber you’ve never heard of”. This is Lhakpa Sherpa, a Nepalese mountain climber who, in 2022, became the first woman to climb Everest 10 times. Her story is remarkable: one of 11 children, born in a cave, she was not provided education as a girl and is illiterate to this day. She has worked as a janitor, carer and cleaner as a way of supporting her three children.
