Nearly 62 million people are expected to hit the road to celebrate Independence Day. AAA is projecting people will travel at least 50 miles for the Independence Day period starting this weekend through July 6. The national average is $3.23 per gallon for regular unleaded. In Fresno, it is around $4.69. Ariana Garcia plans on celebrating the Fourth of July in San Diego.

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — The Central California Food Bank needs the community to help provide meals for kids this summer. During the school year, the Central California Food Bank normally provides around 450,000 meals to kids in low-income families. They want kids to have a summer filled with play and fun without worrying about where the next meal is coming from.

KERMAN, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Solace Lavender Farm in Kerman is having its final summer picking event. Dallas Nord said this is a unique way for lavender lovers to enjoy a summer morning of picking lavender. “People make it their annual tradition now. They come every summer, or some people will come every week, bringing new friends or bringing their best buds, as we say,” Nord said. Nord said the farm has about 3,000 plants.

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office is educating the community on Concealed Carry Weapons permits. Starting this year, out-of-state residents can now qualify for a CCW permit. Fresno County Sheriff John Zanoni said it’s important for community members to have a better understanding of the process. “Hopefully they’ll appreciate the value in having a CCW in order to protect themselves and their family and their loved ones,” Zanoni said.
