A well-designed front yard can transform the entire look of a home, enhancing its curb appeal and creating a welcoming atmosphere. One of the most effective and visually striking ways to add curb appeal is with a front yard flower garden. It’s Friday and the weekend is looking to bring wonderful weather our way. I just might be able to finish mulching our garden beds. My mountain of six yards of mulch is now just a small mound. My obliques have been getting a great workout but I’m noticing my stamina isn’t what it used to be ten years ago. Sigh. Regardless, the yard is looking so pretty despite the sore muscles.

Nestled on Fishers Island at the eastern tip of Long Island, today’s home, dubbed the Sound Cottage, is a beautiful blend of coastal tradition and modern comfort. Designed by Jacob Albert of Albert Righter Tittmann Architects, the 2,500-square-foot, single-story coastal cottage reimagines the classic island bungalow with an eye toward contemporary living. The cottage replaces an older “upside-down” house, where living spaces were on the upper floor to capture ocean views.
