College football is unlike any sport when it comes to fandom, pageantry and tradition. The unique sights and sounds that come with attending a game on any given Saturday is what makes the sport such a special experience for fans across the country. Earlier this season, I wrote about the top traditions in college football – with Wisconsin's "Jump Around" and Iowa's "Hawkeye Wave" holding the top spots on my list.

When I'm asked why I like reporting on the sport of college footballone of the main reasons that comes to mind is its rich traditions. I have been fortunate enough to exhibit and see in person many of these traditions, and some stand out to me above the rest. Watching the crowd at Camp Randall Stadium “Jump Around” or watching Ralphie run on the field at Folsom Field are part of what makes this sport so special.

While the game itself featured two powerhouse programs in the sport, it also featured two programs that stand out with their iconic uniforms.

Michigan football players did not make it seem like Jim Harbaugh died during their first offensive possession against Penn State. They did not pay tribute to their "fallen" head coach by holding up four fingers during the fourth play of the game like they did when he was suspended earlier in the season. However, starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy certainly made it seem like Harbaugh is no longer with us during an interview after beating the Nittany Lions on the road.
