It is interesting to watch, again and again, how delegates in Spain stare at pieces of paper and/or their mobile phones during the so-called election on Monday, following the instructions they received for the fake election: they work their way through the names and click on the voting device as they were instructed to. Some of them then take a photo of the screen of the voting handheld, most likely to prove to their bosses that they have followed the instructions.

PARIS. Thomas Bach made a surprise appearance at the daily press conference organised by the Olympic hosts and the IOC on Saturday morning. The IOC president had been announced at short notice in a press release on Friday afternoon. It was crisis communication at its worst, without labelling it as such. The almost hysterical reporting worldwide and the debate at all levels (social media, politics) about the gender of the Algerian boxer Imane Khelif is doing enormous damage to these Games.
