South Korean cable manufacturer LS Cable & System Ltd. has built a 3,000 kilowatt (kW) solar power system at its submarine cable production base in Donghae, Gangwon Province. The plant began full-scale operations on Monday. The facility is expected to generate 3,600 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity annually, which is equivalent to the annual power consumption of about 1,200 households.

A Hyundai Steel Co. rebar factory in Incheon fell silent on Tuesday as operations ground to a halt for the first time since its founding.
