SPOKANE — Cody Ells was nearly a one-man show. The starting pitcher shoved a seven-inning complete game shutout of the Walla Walla Bruins and batted in the Blues’ lone run in a 2-for-3 showing at the plate. The Blues (22-5-2) beat the Bruins 1-0 on Saturday at the Legion Washington State AA Tournament in Spokane. Asotin County advances to the second round of the winner’s bracket and will meet the Mount Vernon Riverdogs at 3 p.m. today. Ells excelled, striking out 12 and issuing no walks.
