CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Prepare to start playing the metrics game again when college basketball returns this fall. The ACC announced on Wednesday that it will switch from 20 conference games to 18, starting with the coming 2025-26 season. The league has played a 20-game schedule since the 2019-20 campaign, moving up from the 18-game model it began in the 2012-13 season.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — After the loss of some mainstays, North Carolina women's basketball will go into the fall looking to build with a younger roster. With Alyssa Ustby, Maria Gakdeng, Lexi Donarski and Grace Townsend graduating, and Trayanna Crisp transferring, the Tar Heels are losing 59.1% of their scoring from last season. UNC does have a slew of familiar faces coming back as well as new additions through the transfer portal and from high school.

The move to bring him on was an attempt on UNC's part to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of college basketball, as Tanner's addition also came two months before the opening of this year's transfer portal window. North Carolina entered the offseason knowing a slew of changes to its roster could be on the way.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — After the completion of Bill Belichick's debut season at North Carolina this fall, the Tar Heels will be going global. Belichick delivered the news to his team this week that North Carolina will open the 2026 season in Ireland in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic when it faces TCU. Belichick — who spent 38 seasons as an NFL coach — is no stranger to overseas football games. As the head coach of the New England Patriots, Belichick went 3-1 in international games.
