Casper, Wyo. - A 16-year-old, involved in a weekend shooting in Casper has been identified by family. Corinne Parker said her nephew, Tyler Parker, was the victim of the Sunday evening shooting on the 100 block of South Washington Street. Parker says her nephew was shot in the head, so she has started a GoFundMe asking the community to help cover Tyler's medical bills since the family is on a limited income.

Casper, Wyo. - The family of the victim of a weekend shooting is looking for some help. 20-year-old Anicio Kane Bernard died Sunday evening over on the 1900 block of South Missouri Avenue. Casper Police say Bernard and another man were shot during a confrontation in an apartment. That other man remains in critical condition at Banner Wyoming Medical Center.
Human remains found near Terry Ranch Road have been identified

Cheyenne, Wyo. - The Laramie County Coroner's Office has identified human remains found off Terry Ranch Road in Laramie County. In a press release, the LCCO identifies the remains as 59-year-old Roy Arthur Moates. His remains were found on October 14, 2024 by a construction crew working on private property near the Terry Bison Ranch. At the time, a member of the LCCO told Wyoming News Now that the remains had been there for a substantial amount of time.

Visas restored for University of Wyoming students

Cheyenne, Wyo. - Wyoming News Now has confirmed that at least six University of Wyoming students with international visas have had their visas restored. A couple of weeks ago we reported that between 6 and 10 students had their visas revoked, and that federal authorities had not provided any information to the university. University spokesperson Chad Baldwin said the visa terminations were occurring without prior notice to the university or the student.
Dog park in Laramie closes for month of May

Laramie, Wyo. - Due to required annual maintenance, the east turf area of Optimist Dog Park will be closed between May 1, 2025, and May 31, 2025. Parks Division staff will be aerating, over-seeding weak turf and reworking areas that have been holding water within the Optimist Dog Park. The dog park will remain closed until the seed germinates and foot traffic will no longer damage the young sprouts.
Nebraska burn ban extended due to dry conditions

Lincoln, Neb. - A central and western Nebraska burn ban has been extended through May 10 in response to continued dry conditions. Last week, Gov. Pillen ordered a burn ban across Nebraska, after a prescribed fire got out of control in Plum Creek. The new order, effective today, specifies the border where burning is still not permitted. The line runs south along U.S. Highway 81 from the South Dakota border to Highway 92. The line then goes west to U.S. Highway 281 and runs south to the Kansas border.

Motel managers are hiring their last employees as the summer tourism season begins with the opening of Yellowstone's West Entrance today. After park crews plowed a winter's worth of snow from roads, visitors are now motoring to Old Faithful, Canyon and Norris, marking the unofficial start to the summer.
Statue of Liz Byrd unveiled in Cheyenne

Cheyenne, Wyo. - A new statue in downtown Cheyenne has been unveiled, honoring the life and legacy of the late Liz Byrd. Harriet Elizabeth Byrd was the first black woman to serve in Wyoming's House and later the first black person to serve in the Wyoming Senate. Bird passed away 10 years ago. The official unveiling of her bronze statue happened Saturday morning on the corner of 21st and Carey in downtown Cheyenne.
