Source: Sundance Film Festival Bleecker Street has acquired US rights to the Sundance drama Rebuilding starring Josh O’Connor, with mk2 Films boarding international sales heading into Cannes. Max Walker-Silverman’s film follows Dusty, a cowboy who loses his ranch in a wildfire and reconnects with his estranged daughter and ex-wife as he reconstructs his life alongside fellow survivors in an emergency camp. Lily Latorre, Meghann Fahy, Kali Reis, and Amy Madigan round out the cast.

A24 has come on board writer-director Jesse Eisenberg’s upcoming untitled comedy in which he stars alongside Julianne Moore, Paul Giamatti, Halle Bailey, Havana Rose Liu, and Bernadette Peters. Production began this month in New Jersey on the story of a shy woman who goes to extremes and loses herself in a role when she is unexpectedly cast in a community theatre musical production. The cast includes Bonnie Milligan, Colton Ryan, Lilli Cooper, and Maulik Pancholy also join the cast.

Amid declining production levels in the Greater Los Angeles area across all filming categories, FilmLA warned on Monday: ”California can’t afford to surrender any more work to its competitors.” FilmLA’s latest report looking at the first quarter of the year painted an ongoing sorry picture in the home of Hollywood. Overall production declined by 22.4% and features fell by 28.9% to 451 shoot days (SD) in the January to March period.
