Maliki: Poison of the Past was a highlight of the Steam Next Fest and its demo was gameplay-rich while also still showcasing some of the story and a gorgeous diorama art style. It was a perfect example of how a demo can properly showcase an RPG, and a turn-based one at that, while still holding back enough content to make you want the final product, and like the legendary Final Fantasy VII demo, balanced that wonderfully.

Capcom has largely ruled the roost for 2D arcade fighting games for over 30 years and few companies celebrate their rich history quite like them either. SEGA does to a large extent and SNK does as well, but Capcom showcases their archives in ways that are hard to touch because they put so much work and care into their collections and their fighting compilations alongside the recent Marvel vs. Capcom Arcade Classics Collection showcase that wonderfully.

Pinball games have been a favorite of mine ever since Pinball Dreams on the SNES and the modern era of Pinball FX games have offered a continual stream of top-shelf pinball titles on the market. One thing we haven't seen much of is a blend of neon-soaked worlds and pinball. It's a fitting mix given how big pinball was in the '80s as it was a bit of a throwback then, but machines remained popular well into the '90s.
