Indianapolis-based pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly broke ground Tuesday on its $4.5 billion facility in Lebanon. The Lilly Medicine Foundry will be a research and development facility located at the LEAP industrial district in the city, northwest of Indianapolis. Lilly's planned investment in the area tops more than $13 billion. The new site will primarily focus on manufacturing medications and distributing them to patients.

This Friday over 1,000 volunteers plan to roll up their sleeves and get to work across central Indiana.
About 80 nonprofits will work with volunteers on a variety of projects under the banner of Go All IN Day, coordinated by the United Way of Central Indiana.
Margaret Matray from United Way says each nonprofit’s project is chosen based on what the organization needs.

Protesters lined the sidewalks alongside a strip of 96th Street Wednesday afternoon in a bid to catch the attention of U.S. Sen. Todd Young.
Over 150 people attended the rally, calling for more accountability and transparency from their legislator. The event was organized by Indivisible Central Indiana and was located just outside of the Republican senator’s Far Northside office.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana will once again collaborate with Indianapolis Motor Speedway in an effort to recruit mentors.
The organization hopes to recruit 500 mentors by the time the green flag flies at the Indy 500.
Big Brothers Big Sisters pairs adult volunteers with young people aged 8-18, to help youths with confidence, educational success and avoidance of risky behaviors.

The Indiana-based company MakeMyMove will offer $5,000 in incentives to remote workers who relocate to specific Central Indiana counties.
The incentives include music and sports experiences, co-working and networking perks and fitness passes. They'll be available for remote workers moving to Marion, Hamilton, Hancock, Shelby, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, Boone, Madison, Brown and Putnam counties.

Summer hiring season is here. Indy Parks recently announced a pair of job fairs to connect with potential applicants for seasonal positions.
Positions on offer range from $13 to $16.50 in hourly pay. Up to 400 of the jobs are eligible for an extra incentive program. Positions include lifeguards, counselors and other park positions.
Available incentives include a $500 early bird sign-on bonus, a $250 sign-on bonus and a $250 referral bonus.

Around two dozen people gathered Sunday afternoon to protest the arrest of two men from Honduras in Indianapolis last month.
The protest, organized by the Indianapolis chapter of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, was held at the intersection of I-65 and 30th Street where they believe the contentious arrest took place. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested two Honduran men during what appears to be a traffic stop.

Survivors of domestic violence and abuse in central Indiana have another resource that aims to help establish a sense of stability.
Thrifty Threads is a second-hand store that focuses on clothing and houseware. It's owned and operated by the Julian Center, a local organization that helps survivors.
The original Thrifty Threads opened nearly 20 years ago on the northwest side. Friday morning a second location opened in Castleton.

Hundreds of college football players descended on Indianapolis this week for the NFL Scouting Combine.
Indianapolis has hosted the combine for 38 years in a row. The event allows hopeful athletes to show off their skills to NFL teams looking for new players. That process is open for fans to spectate.
Outside of Lucas Oil Stadium is the NFL Combine Experience, which lets attendees try some of the same tests of agility and precision.

Community leaders broke ground Tuesday on a $3 million project to bring improvements to Tarkington Park, located west of the Indiana State Fairgrounds.
The addition also honors the legacy of a beloved Indianapolis football coach.
Richard “Coach Nell” Hamilton mentored young athletes for years as the coach of a youth football team, the Indy Steelers, which often practiced in Tarkington Park. He passed away in 2023 after a road rage incident.
