In a letter to the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accused Iran of seeking to “annihilate” Israel through its nuclear program, its plan to build thousands of ballistic missiles, and attacks on the Jewish state by its numerous terror proxies in the region. The communiqué was a response to an Iranian letter to the UNSC on Monday invoking the Islamic Republic’s right to self-defense following the beginning of Israel’s offensive on June 13.

Iranian barrages of hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel since the opening of direct hostilities overnight Thursday have taken a devastating toll on the country, with 24 people killed and nearly 600 injured by the unprecedented bombardment. The Iranian missiles have slammed into residential buildings in Bat Yam, Bnei Brak, Haifa, Petah Tikva, Ramat Gan, Rishon Lezion, Tamra and beyond, killing and wounding almost exclusively civilians while inflicting massive amounts of damage.

The three activists from the Madleen boat, which tried to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza last week, will be released from Israeli custody tomorrow morning and return to their home countries via Jordan. Their respective embassies will be awaiting their arrival at a border crossing between Israel and Jordan to facilitate their return, says the Adalah civil rights organization, which has represented the activists.
