Standing in Steve Wright's former studio at Radio 2 this week, I realised a horrible coincidence. As the station is moving offices, the studio in which he spoke live to the nation for more than 40 years had been gutted just days before his death. The symbolism was too much to bear. For Steve Wright — whom I would call a friend as much as a colleague — that studio was his home. His preparation and work ethic meant he would arrive at 9am for an on-air start at three.
