The Spiders came into their weekend matchup against the Rams an impressive 21-4 record, with quality wins against the University of Virginia, North Carolina State University, and a win earlier in the week at James Madison University, while holding a 4-2 record in the Atlantic 10.

The University of Richmond men’s basketball team finished its season with a 64-60 home loss on March 8 against George Mason University. This marked the second meeting between the two teams this season, as George Mason got the better of UR at home, winning 64-58 on January 8. Prior to tipoff, UR honored the team’s six seniors and graduates before the game, as they suited up for potentially their final time at the Robins Center.

Following a tough loss at Davidson College, the University of Richmond men’s basketball team was not able to complete the comeback Feb. 11, falling in overtime to Loyola University Chicago, 87-80. Last season, UR and Loyola Chicago finished first and second in the Atlantic 10 regular season standings respectively, with both teams coming in at 15-3. In fact, UR’s road win over the Ramblers was the difference in clinching the 2024 regular season championship.

The University of Richmond men’s basketball team beat the Duquesne University Dukes 73-68 in their Feb. 5 matchup at the Robins Center, to snap a seven game losing streak. Duquesne is fresh off a successful season that saw the team win the Atlantic 10 men’s basketball tournament championship and advance to the second round of March Madness. However, the Dukes have struggled at times this season, riding a four game losing streak into their matchup against UR.

The Saturday, Jan. 25 sold out game between the University of Richmond Spiders men’s basketball team and the Davidson College Wildcats, featured two teams badly in need of a win. The down-to-the-wire clash saw the Wildcats walk away with a hard fought 72-66 victory over the Spiders.
