    An SUV crashed into the plate-glass window at Dewey's Bakery in Thruway Shopping Center on Friday. The incident happened about 11 a.m., witnesses said. No one was injured, said Kayla Kubitz, the director of operations for Dewey's. The driver thought the SUV was in reverse, Kubitz said, but it was in drive. When the driver hit the gas, the SUV went through the window. This weekend is a busy one for the bakery, which generations have used for graduation cakes.

  • 72-year-old inmate dies at Forsyth County Jail

    An inmate at the Forsyth County Jail died on Saturday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said. Detention officers making rounds about 5:20 p.m. found David Elliot Dickerson, 72, unresponsive in his cell, the sheriff's office said. Officers, jail medical staff and emergency medical services tried to revive Dickerson, but he was pronounced dead, the sheriff's office said.
