    Poulan, GA (WALB) - What started as a 911 call reporting domestic violence at a home in Poulan turned into an hours-long standoff with gunfire from both the suspect and law enforcement. It happened Sunday evening at a home on Hickory Street in Worth County. Worth County Sheriff Don Whitaker told WALB News 10 that when the Poulan City Police Department responded to the 911 call, the suspect fired shots at them. That prompted a response from several other agencies.

According to the incident report from the Albany Police Department (APD), officers went to Phoebe Main and spoke with a man who said his brother and two nephews doing construction work for the owner of a home in the 2300 block of Ashford Drive.

A neighbor told police at the scene he overheard a loud argument and then what sounded like gunfire coming from the home on the 2300 block of Ashford Drive. Albany police chief Michael Persley confirmed to WALB there was a shooting, but other details were not released.
