"We've seen a recent decrease in demand on our routes between San Francisco-Washington Dulles and Los Angeles-Washington Dulles, potentially connected to economic uncertainty and a decrease in government-related travel," the airline said in an email. The last scheduled flight on both routes is Aug. 19. Service until then is daily. Alaska also flies daily to Washington Reagan National Airport from San Francisco and Los Angeles and will continue those routes.

I suppose it's strange to lead off with something so basic about the food on Explora, a line establishing a reputation as a culinary star in luxury cruising in its early days (The MSC Group line launched its first ship in August 2023). Explora does wow you with opulent cuisine. One of its signature dishes is served in the French restaurant, Fil Rouge: poached eggs atop creamy spinach with yuzu hollandaise and baeri caviar. It's the first time I've eaten that for breakfast.

The ocean ship is under construction at Fincantieri's Ancona shipyard in Italy. Its next ocean ship, the Viking Astrea, also will be hydrogen-powered and delivered in 2027. The 998-passenger ships will have a propulsion system based partially on liquefied hydrogen and fuel cells. Viking said the hybrid propulsion system will enable navigating and operating with zero emissions.

Two Norwegian Cruise Line vessels, Norwegian Sky and Norwegian Sun, will be chartered to Cordelia Cruises in India. Both ships accommodate about 2,000 passengers at double occupancy. The charters are anticipated to begin in 2026 and 2027, respectively. The Sun-class ships are among NCL's oldest. The Sky entered service in 1999, the Sun in 2001.
