    In 2019, after recognizing the lack of streets named after women, the city of Geneva created an initiative to rectify the imbalance. According to a study by the city, only 7 percent of its streets had been named after women. So in order to change the disparity, the city began to celebrate dozens of women who made an impact in the city’s history, by placing them, quite literally, on the map. They began to rename some of its streets to celebrate women who made a difference in the world.
