(Pro tip: they also have the best coffee on the block.) The coziest French restaurant.

It’s a cold and rainy Wednesday afternoon when the four women who comprise The Beaches show up to load in their gear ahead of the first of two sold-out nights at Music Hall of Williamsburg. The weather, standing in stark contrast to the band’s sunny name, does little to bring down their mood, though, as they’ve just come from uptown for an iHeartRadio interview. We all promptly decamp to George & Jack’s Tap Room for a pint down the block.

It’s very easy for me to get into a habit of not reflecting enough, as in not making sure I’ve setting time aside to sit for at least an hour with a blank page and let my mind wander. I’ve been in both a writing funk due to some other things going on in my life, and when this happens, I typically feel desperate to sit by myself for hours and do nothing but what inspires me in that moment, especially not anything related to producing for capitalistic value.
