A new wellness metric, Aortic Stiffness, offers profound insight into overall health and longevity. Spinal flexibility can be assessed using Aortic Stiffness as a result of the way the Aorta and Spine are in intimate physical contact. Youthful spinal flexibility is linked to full movement of the rib cage and diaphragm muscle. The spine, rib cage and diaphragm muscle combine to form a connected structure, shown below, that moves in elastic and coordinated ways.

Inner Mobility is connected and coordinated movement of the body’s core regions involving the spine, rib cage, diaphragm muscle and other core tissues. A kick, slap shot, throw or jump all benefit from Inner Mobility workouts. A punch thrown using the arm alone is just a shadow of a punch exploding up from the core. Inner Mobility has to be understandable and easily measured to be useful.
