    Eight Papua New Guinea cadets have been participating in a new training initiative with Townsville police in North Queensland. The cadets were placed in local police stations to observe how Australian law enforcement operated, as well as to experience leadership from senior operational officers and senior managers. One PNG Cadet Moore Ivarakwaivi said his learnt alot and was impressed with the adeptness and conduct of Australian law enforcement.

    A Townsville snake nurse and staff at a local veterinary clinic received a welcomed surprise, witnessing a live birth of four yellow-bellied sea snakes. The pregnant sea snake was rescued off the coast at Pallarenda, after beaching itself on Thursday morning. It's the first time Trish Prendergast, who has previously worked with Sir David Attenborough, has encountered a live snake birth.
