    Search and rescue operations continue in the Buffalo City Metro in the Eastern Cape which has been hit by inclement weather. “The Buffalo City Metro is intervening in areas that have been impacted by floods... Rescue operations are continuous as emergency teams remain on high alert. El Niño usually causes drought conditions in South Africa, such as the Western Cape drought of 2015 - 2017 which led to fears of taps running dry in Cape Town. The exact impact of El Niño cannot be accurately modeled, but dryland farmers need to prepare for a hot, dry summer.
