An active pattern will be setting up across parts of the Central and Southern Plains and extending into the Deep South! 2 May 2025 11:55 AMA huge digging upper level low is heading from the Pacific Ocean down into the Southwestern United States this weekend into next week. As the upper low moves onshore, it will bring an unsettled pattern to the West and drop high temperatures down big time. Cities like Phoenix and Las Vegas will see temperatures dip below normal this weekend by at least ten degrees. I could imagine getting a break from the typical warmth this time of year is great news for the residents.

12 Apr 2025 10:48 PMAs an upper level high pressure sits and spins over the Western half of the country, it is creating a fire threat and record breaking temperatures! Along with the record hot temperatures, the high pressure system is lowering moisture levels which is a key factor for fire development. On Sunday, there is a Critical Risk of fire development in parts of New Mexico and Arizona. Just like on Saturday, try to avoid anything that could cause a spark.

CALIFORNIA - Despite recent storm systems, California's snowpack remains below average (about 82% of average to date). As our latest system wraps up, California and Nevada did pick up an additional foot to two feet of snow. As we jump ahead to next week, the weather pattern will pick up for not only California but all of the Western United States. Starting Tuesday, we will see a huge influx of Pacific moisture moving into California and Southern Oregon that will lead to lots of rain and snow.
