As part of today’s announcement that the Xbox Mobile App was getting more functionality it is also losing the baked in remote play, moving solely to web browsers on mobile devices. As part of today’s blog post around Xbox App functionality and April’s UI updates, the ability to stream remote games has been removed from the Xbox App on mobile devices.

The Xbox App on iOS and Android is going to allow users to buy games, sign up for Game Pass, and redeem GPU perks as detailed in today’s Xbox Wire Blog Post. In a blog post today Xbox has revealed that the Xbox App is gaining the following features:Buying GamesJoining Game PassRedeeming Game Pass Ultimate PerksNone of these are currently available directly in the app. A beta for both iOS and Android will be hitting soon.

The Xbox Wire has made it official with two DOOM: The Dark Ages inspired controllers and a console wrap available on their store for order and pre-order today. We originally spotted the regular Xbox Wireless DOOM The Dark Ages controller on Phil Spencer’s shelf during his interview with NBC’s Today Show. During that interview Phil even mentioned that there was something being teased. Today we get confirmation that it is one of three DOOM: The Dark Ages limited collection items.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has just released a hotfix for their 1.0.3. patch that was recently released, including a fix on allies being unable to be called in. We reviewed the game back at launch, stating: “Assassin’s Creed is finally set in Japan, and it has led to an instant classic. In a new interview with Variety, the topic of the Nintendo Switch 2 came up, with Xbox’s CEO of Gaming Phil Spencer calling Nintendo “a great partner” among other things. In a wide-ranging interview, Phil Spencer was asked about Nintendo and their upcoming Switch 2 console. When asked about the Switch 2 and Xbox’s plans for support, Phil Said:So we’ve been supporting Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2. Nintendo has been a great partner.
