LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating a house fire that killed one person in Lawrence County Tuesday. The Lawrence County Fire & Rescue Department said that multiple units were dispatched to a house on Dobbins Road shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Dispatch advised that the home was fully involved in flames and that family members had been trying to rescue a bed-bound patient trapped within the 3,000-square-foot split-level home.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man who was arrested in East Nashville after allegedly making a drug transaction in front of detectives now faces federal charges, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee. Last month, detectives with the Metro Nashville Police Department reportedly saw 33-year-old Dejuan Bell get out of a Nissan Altima near the James Cayce Homes and walk up to several people who were on porches.

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities arrested nine people in connection with a Hendersonville human trafficking investigation. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s human trafficking unit, in conjunction with the Hendersonville Police Department, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, members of the 18th Judicial Drug Task Force and authorities with Homeland Security Investigations conducted an undercover operation aimed at addressing human trafficking in the area.

ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Last week, an Ashland City doctor was sentenced for allegedly submitting more than $41 million in fraudulent healthcare claims. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee said that Dr. John Manning, 64, signed the false and fraudulent claims to Medicare between June 2016 and April 2019; Medicare paid over $19 million of those claims with Manning accepting the payment of kickbacks in connection with the orders.
