I have been the fairest person in almost every photograph for my entire life (except when I went through quite an aggressive addiction to St Tropez tanning mousse in the Noughties). I have travelled the world only to find the only shady spots on Bondi Beach, in the Nevada desert or on a yacht in the Caribbean. I spent one Glastonbury festival huddled under an air mattress strapped to the roof of a shed to try and hide from the sun.

It’s been seven years since we got the keys to our two-bedroom, Georgian terraced house. Ollie and I had been married for all of six months and had relocated from London to my home county of Somerset. We were ready to start a new chapter in a proper home rather than a stuffy Brixton flat, and at that time, house prices were lower in Somerset (although, since Covid, the prices have evened out).

If you still think of TikTok as “that dancing app”, you’re not keeping up. TikTok is now as much about shopping as it is dancing, with 7 per cent of UK consumers around (2.8million) thought to have made a purchase through the social media app in 2023, according to Which? – and those figures are only rising. Keen for a slice of Amazon and eBay’s pies, TikTok launched its own marketplace, called simply TikTok Shop, in November 2022.

This morning, I was woken up by my two-year-old son wriggling around next to me, reaching out to check if I was there. It’s not an unusual way for us to start the day, in fact we share a bed every single night and have done since he was around six months old. My husband, meanwhile, is not in our bed and sleeps in the spare room (and is wildly better rested than I am – if you’ve ever shared a bed with a toddler, you’ll have the war wounds to prove it).
