According to a release from Kingston Police, in April 2025, investigators from the Kingston Police Intelligence Unit and the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) launched an investigation into a Collins Bay inmate who was suspected of orchestrating the delivery of contraband into the multi-level-security Institution using a drone.

According to a release from Kingston Police, officers responded to a local hotel to investigate a report of an individual uttering threats toward staff at around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 15, 2025. Police did not identify the hotel, nor did they say whereabouts in Kingston it is.
