Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson joined BGC South East representatives, City councillors and staff, and youth and their parents at BGC South East’s STEM & Robotics Centre for a chance to view the students’ projects.

The South East Health Unit (SEHU) is alerting those in the Kaladar, Bannockburn, and Bon Echo Park areas that a Special Air Quality Statement was issued by Environment Canada. “Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. Wildfire smoke is expected over the area today. The potential for ground level smoke may continue tonight into Friday for some areas,” the health unit detailed in a media release, issued just before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jun 5, 2025.

Kingston Police have released updated details on a scam initially reported in late May, which involves a family distracting elderly residents in order to steal the victim’s jewellery. As previously reported, police are advising residents to be on the lookout for a family consisting of a man, woman, and two to three children approaching elderly residents and asking for directions to local hospitals under the pretense of making a charitable donation.

Kingston Police are looking for witnesses to a fatal collision that closed Bath Road between Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard and Portsmouth Avenue for nearly five hours early yesterday evening. At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jun. 4, 2025, members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to the report of the incident, which ultimately took the life of a pedestrian, according to a release from Kingston Police.
