    EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Newly obtained numbers from the Department of Public Safety show that the agency hasn’t made many arrests of suspected Tren de Aragua gang members in El Paso in the last few years. This comes after the city was thrown into the national spotlight last September when the former DPS director and Governor Greg Abbott made some big claims about the Venezuelan gang’s presence.

    EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — It's been about two months since El Paso's new public health director stepped into his new role. In an interview with KFOX14, he talked about his transition, the priorities for the city and addressed allegations made by former employees. Dr. Veerinder Taneja was named as El Paso's health director in June. The city had been under the direction of Dr. Hector Ocaranza who had been serving as interim since 2022.

    More than $60 million is owed to the city of El Paso for ambulance and medical services provided to people who haven’t paid the fire department, a 2019 city audit showed. The outside company hired to collect that money stopped working for the city in 2018 and it wasn’t until this August that Digitech was brought on board to try and collect those outstanding balances. The 2019 audit showed $63,973,085.23 is owed to the El Paso Fire Department as of that year in accounts more than 210 days past due.

    A student at the El Paso Independent School District’s Silva Health Magnet school is bringing up a concern about dual-credit classes. She said they are not being made available in a fair way to all students. Lordyn Sepesey-Pajerski spoke at a recent EPISD board meeting to bring the issue to light. “I am here to advocate for equal rights in student scheduling at Silva Health Magnet,” she said.
