EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — In El Paso, the biggest school districts are making tough decisions to deal with multi-million-dollar deficits. The issues plaguing local districts seem to be problems for districts across the state, too. The decisions, like closing schools, laying off employees, and not giving teachers raises, have been met with some community backlash. However, KFOX14 found that the financial strain being felt in other Texas districts is the result of many of the same reasons.

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Newly obtained numbers from the Department of Public Safety show that the agency hasn’t made many arrests of suspected Tren de Aragua gang members in El Paso in the last few years. This comes after the city was thrown into the national spotlight last September when the former DPS director and Governor Greg Abbott made some big claims about the Venezuelan gang’s presence.

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — It's been about two months since El Paso's new public health director stepped into his new role. In an interview with KFOX14, he talked about his transition, the priorities for the city and addressed allegations made by former employees. Dr. Veerinder Taneja was named as El Paso's health director in June. The city had been under the direction of Dr. Hector Ocaranza who had been serving as interim since 2022.
