Do you ever need to divide your document into equal parts, say, into thirds, fifths, or maybe nine equal horizontal and vertical blocks? This is the kind of thing I need to do from time to time. Do you use math, or even type equations into the dialog fields and let Photoshop do the math for you? We don’t have to do any math or thinking at all. Go to View>Guides>New Guide Layout. Type in the number of Rows and Columns you need to evenly divide the document.

The canvas is the area outside your document when you zoom out and expand your document window. Usually, the canvas is gray; however, you can change it to any color you like. Right-click on the canvas, choose Select Custom Color, and you’ll see a Color Picker. Choose your color and the canvas will show that color whenever you choose Custom in that contextual menu. It gets even better.

A few Photoshop versions ago, Adobe decided to update the presets. This was good and bad. It was good because they added some more useful ones, rather than the bubble texture; however, I wish they’d added even more useful ones such as social branding, better arrows and shapes, etc. But hey, who doesn’t need more hippos and gazelles? My big beef (and I’m not alone) is that all the presets were put into subfolders. This includes shapes, textures, styles, brushes, gradients, etc.
