    Wentzville’s salt bay building will be getting upgraded. During the May 14 Board of Aldermen meeting, city officials discussed a request for $45,000 to facilitate structural repairs. “The reinforced concrete and steel of this building has suffered over time with all that salt and use, so some repairs are needed … these services would also include some construction support services during those structural repairs just for some specialized inspection,” Director of Engineering Matt Wohlberg said.

Founded in 2013, The Sparrow’s Nest was originally a pregnancy resource center, but it increased the scope of its services as the need for affordable daily child care options became more apparent. In 2023, The Sparrow’s Nest created a childcare cooperative, which offers low-cost, high-quality child care options to low-income families.

    Three St. Peters residents were recognized at the May 22 Board of Alderman meeting for helping a neighbor in need. Larry Cravens is a Fort Zumwalt East high parent and president of the Band Boosters organization. When he found out that another parent’s car broke down the day before her son’s World Championship drum competition in Dayton, Ohio, he offered to drive her and made sure she got to see the performance. Cravens  was nominated for the award by fellow parent Betsy Gray.

    Cottleville residents and city officials were introduced to amenity updates within the ongoing Cottleville Trails development at the May 21 Board of Aldermen meeting. Two public hearings were held to discuss amendments to the planned unit development area plan and renewal of the conditional use permit for phases H and I.

    The Wentzville Board of Aldermen approved a partnership with the i5 Group to update the city’s comprehensive plan during its May 14 meeting. This plan directs community leaders on how to manage growth and has been updated by city staff for over 15 years. During the discussion regarding hiring the firm, Alderman Robert Hussey (Ward 2) asked when the city last had the comprehensive plan done by an outside source.
