They go by many names, but whatever you call them, they've been hailed as part of the solution to California's housing crunch - and the state wants lots more of them. Just over a year ago, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a pair of laws allowing people to sell ADUs as separate homes on their property and allows homeowners to get loans to build them.
