In a little over a month, Temporary Protected Status designation will cease for Afghanistan. Afghan immigrants who don't have a legal immigration status to shift to once Temporary Protected Status expires could face deportation, including thousands of refugees who fled the country in 2022 when the Taliban took over the country. With the change, Rebekah Edmonson – a U.S. Army veteran who served four tours in Afghanistan – remains worried about the safety of those they worked with.
