Lockport — Lockport will host its 52nd Old Canal Days festival this weekend, with events scheduled from Thursday through Sunday. The event will take place at 303 W. Second St., and the festival site now includes a paved walkway from the parking lot through the main shopping and entertainment section. The annual festival begins Thursday night with the opening of the carnival and food court and entertainment by DJ Jon Wise.

Joliet — The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday several emergency closures going into effect along Interstate 80 in Joliet and Rockdale. According to IDOT, the eastbound I-80 ramp to northbound Center Street will be closed, with reopening expected for the evening commute times on Friday, June 13. Northbound Center Street between Meadow Avenue and I-80 will also be closed for emergency repairs with reopening expected for the evening rush traffic on June 13, according to IDOT.

Lockport — Lockport Township High School District 205 has announced the recipients of the LTHS 205 Foundation awards for 2025. The William and Mildred Jackson Teacher Recognition Award was presented to teacher Chelsey Wajchert, while bus driver John Stenburg received the Golden Key Award for the second year in a row. Wajchert is a math teacher who has worked at LTHS for 11 years, according to the district press release.
