Will County — The former CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Will and Grundy counties Theodore “Ted” Brodeur’s theft case was continued after a brief hearing Friday. Brodeur, 55, is charged with class 2 felony theft for allegedly stealing money “personal uses” from the nonprofit youth organization he used to lead. While it has not been stated how much money he is accused of stealing, the class 2 felony charge means it is “in excess of $10,000.”Brodeur plead not guilty to the charge in January.

John Arizzi, who currently serves as the commander of the investigations department at the Lockport Police Department, has been named to replace Rich Harang as chief after Harang’s retirement next month.

Will County — The Will County Emergency Management Agency offers safety guidance for residents regarding high temperatures that are being forecast for Illinois in the coming week. Heat index is forecast to reach 100 degrees beginning this weekend. “We want to make sure our residents know how to stay safe and cool down while we’re facing high temperatures this week,” said Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant in a statement on the county health department website.

Joliet — The city of Joliet has announced that Ingalls Avenue will be closed at the intersection of Plainfield Road starting Friday. The closure is part of the Plainfield Road Water Main Improvement Project, and concrete pavement must be laid at the intersection, according to a news release from the city. The work will begin Friday morning and is slated to be completed by Monday, June 30. According to the announcement, all traffic on Ingalls will be stopped, and a detour will be posted.

Bolingbrook — The Bolingbrook Police Department has announced a series of temporary lane closures which will take place intermittently over the next two weeks . According to Bolingbrook police, the lanes on Illinois Route 53 under the Interstate 55 bridge will be closed between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in order to install new required lighting underneath the bridge.
