I’ve asked Robin Kaler, the University’s spokesperson, for a statement countless times in my years writing for The Daily Illini. Last December, I asked for something different for my final story before I graduate — a profile on Chancellor Robert Jones. Jones is set to depart Champaign-Urbana in June. He will remain in the Big Ten conference as the next president of the University of Washington, heading UW’s three campuses: Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma.

April 30 10:20 a.m. University of Illinois Police Department responded to reports of a man threatening a female at the Illini Union at 9:03 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to a UIPD comment on reddit. The suspect fled the area after attempting to make contact with her. The UIPD received information shortly after that the suspect was armed and located inside Talbot Laboratory. The suspect was arrested before an Illini-Alert could be issued. UIPD reported that no firearm was found.

It’s a major improvement over the traditional method, which is much more expensive and takes seven days or more. Before he developed the rapid test, Garg faced an issue — with the number of students in his lab, it could take one person up to three months to test the performance of a construction material.
