    The Lagos state police command has denied a report that Boko Haram suspects have been apprehended in Lagos. On Thursday, Kumar Sanda, the commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Lagos, was reported to have said thousands of suspected Boko Haram members have been arrested in the city. “If I should mention the number of Boko Haram members we have arrested in Lagos State, people will not believe it. But we have arrested thousands,” he was quoted as saying.

    Gunmen have attacked the family residence of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi central, in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi LGA. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, when at least three armed men wielding firearms and cutlasses stormed the premises. According to Yakubu Ovanja, the senator’s chief security officer, the assailants arrived around 1 am and vandalised the property, including shattering windows.

    The Benue state police command says its operatives have arrested three suspected kidnappers. Sewuese Anene, the Benue state police spokesperson, told TheCable that the suspects were arrested in relation to the recent kidnapping of three persons along Otukpo road. “They were arrested two or three days after the kidnapping and are currently in custody,” she said. The police spokesperson said nine bodies were recovered from the attack on the Otobi community in the Akpa district of the Otukpo LGA.

    The National Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea (NIS) has commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for apprehending Ogbonnaya Kevin Jeff, a 59-year-old “drug baron” wanted after 17 years of hiding. Ogbonnaya was arrested by the NDLEA weeks ago, at his hideout in the Ojo area of Lagos. Operatives of the NDLEA special operations unit had been on his trail following an Interpol red notice against him and information from the South Korea NIS.
