    We read with great interest the recent multicentre retrospective cohort study by Yoon et al1 showing that the use of high-dose proton pump inhibitor (PPI) was independently associated with increased risks of mortality and cirrhotic complications including hepatic encephalopathy (HE), spontaneous bacterial peritonitis(SBP), hepatorenal syndrome and gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB). However, we have two concerns about this study.
