AbstractHow do humans integrate fragmented experiences into a coherent structure for novel inferences? Although offline replay is proposed to reorganize memories, whether it constructs an integrated cognitive map remains unclear. Using magnetoencephalography, we tracked neural activity as participants learned one-dimensional, pairwise rank relationships that together formed a two-dimensional (2D) conceptual map, and then inferred unobserved relationships.
