1 Introduction The annual size of global data keeps growing and is expected to reach 175 ZB by 2025.[1] However, traditional storage media such as compact disc read-only memory (CD-ROM) and hard disks are reaching their physical limit regarding information density. Using molecules to store information could break this limit, with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) as one of the most promising candidates.
