3.1.4. Genetic OperationsAfter we choose a parent from the current generation, evolution proceeds by transforming parents to offspring using genetic operators. There are four commonly used genetic operators, crossover, subtree mutation, Hoist Mutation, point mutation and reproduction. Unlike other genetic operations, the crossover requires two tournaments. In the first tournament, the winner is selected as the parent, and a random subtree is selected from it to be replaced.
