1 INTRODUCTION Heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), a terminal condition of several heart diseases, is showing increasing incidence worldwide and imposes a heavy healthcare burden on patients, their families, and the overall society. Fabry disease (FD) is caused by a mutation in the GLA gene on the X chromosome, which results in deficient enzymatic activity of α-galactosidase A, leading to excessive storage of globotriaosylceramide (Gb3) and globotriaosylsphingosine (lysoGb3).
